Diversification Definition

The most well known definition is Ansoff's (1957): Diversification is the means of reaching new markets through new products. Subsequently, Ansoff's Matrix has become one of the most well known frameworks for deciding upon strategies for growth. Booz, Allen and Hamilton (1985) defined diversification as ‘a means of spreading the base of a business’ and Ramanujam and Varadarajan (1989) define diversity as ‘the extent to which firms are simultaneously active in many different businesses’.
