Outsourcing Definition

Outsourcing is the "strategic business decision to move internal work(s) to an external supplier" (Elliott & Torkko, 1996: 47). Outsourcing is the operational transfer of one or more business processes from an origin company to an external provider who will then become accountable for the outcome of the agreed tasks (Lereuth, 2007). This will involve a contractual agreement between two or more parties for the ongoing management and improvement of business infrastructure and processes (ITSMA, 2004).
