PESTLE Analysis Definition

The PESTLE framework is an analysis tool that is used to identify the key drivers of change in the strategic environment (Johnson et al., 2008). PESTLE analysis includes Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental factors. Variants include: PEST, PESTLIED (including International and Demographic factors), STEEPLE (including Ethical factors), and STEEPLED (including Education and Demographic factors) (Chapman, 2006).
