Supply Chain Management Definition

A supply chain is a set of three or more entities (organisations and/or individuals) directly involved in the upstream and downstream flows of products, services, finances, and/or information from a source to a customer (Mentzer et al., 2001: 4). Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the oversight of materials, information, and finances as they move in a process from the supplier through the manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer to the consumer (ICEC, 2002).
