System Dynamics Definition

Arising as a different way of understanding organisations using computer simulations, System Dynamics (SD) combines theory, methods and philosophy for analysing the behaviour of systems, by using concepts from the field of feedback control; since feedback loops interconnect people and dominate human decision-making (Forrester, 1998). System Dynamics is a methodology for studying, managing and addressing complex feedback systems in business and other social systems (SDS, 1998).
