In the first part of the programme, you will build confidence in using Excel and Power Query from the start, applying core data handling techniques to your own role. You’ll explore how data flows through your organisation, develop a foundational understanding of data types, architecture and formats, and learn how to collect and source data effectively. Alongside this, you’ll reflect on the value of data in digital systems, connect it to your organisational context and begin building a professional development plan that supports your leadership goals.

In the second part of the programme, you will develop the ability to assess data critically, working with accuracy, accountability and integrity. You’ll examine real-world data security issues and explore how to apply legal and ethical principles in practice, including how to handle, store and share data safely in your role. You’ll strengthen your understanding of data quality by learning to identify errors, validate datasets and ensure accuracy using Excel and Power Query. To support communication in leadership contexts, you’ll also practise presenting findings clearly to different audiences, creating technical documentation and translating analysis into insight that others can act on.

In the third part of the programme, you’ll apply and grow your technical skills using tools like Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI. You’ll learn to blend data, perform analysis, and answer business questions. As your confidence builds, you’ll explore trends, create interactive dashboards, and turn data into clear stories and evidence that guide priorities, reveal opportunities, and support strong leadership.

In the final part of the programme, you will explore the evolving data landscape and its implications for modern leadership. You will engage with advanced tools including SQL, Python and Power BI and examine how technologies like artificial intelligence and big data are reshaping how organisations solve problems and make decisions. You will apply techniques such as root cause analysis, workflow prioritisation and data storytelling to complete end-to-end projects that reflect real-world expectations. This final phase strengthens your ability to lead confidently in a data-driven environment by using insight, innovation and evidence to influence outcomes and support effective leadership.
