The End Point Assessment is your chance to showcase everything you’ve learned on your apprenticeship. It is made up of two equally important parts. Both carry the same weight towards your result, which will be either: Fail, Pass or Distinction. Want that Distinction? You’ll need to hit the top mark in both assessments. Aim high, prepare well, and make your hard work count!
Get ready to shine! The first part of your End Point Assessment is a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session. You’ll deliver a 20-minute presentation on a title set by CMI after Gateway, drawn from the key knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ve developed throughout your apprenticeship. Possible titles include:
- Reviewing ways to reduce cost and increase efficiency in a business environment
- Using data and technology to support organisational goals
- Improving team performance to support organisational goals
- Leading and supporting a team through a period of change within the organisation
Your chosen example should highlight your ability to explain and evaluate data collection, problem-solving, working with people, and spotting future business opportunities. After your presentation, you’ll take part in a 30-minute Q&A session with a minimum of five questions- this is your chance to dive deeper and demonstrate your insight. Once your title is confirmed, you’ll have two weeks to prepare and submit your presentation via the Skilsure portal (you’ll receive your login after Gateway).
The other 50% of your grade is made up of a 60-minute professional discussion where you’ll bring your workplace evidence to life. Your assessor will ask five competency-based questions linked to your portfolio. You’ll discuss how you’ve built high-performing teams, communicated and delivered operational plans, embraced change, used technology, and contributed to projects. Your portfolio should contain a maximum of 16 pieces of evidence and focus on your practical achievements throughout the apprenticeship.
When does your EPA happen?
Your End Point Assessment takes place after the Gateway Review. You’ll be ready to move forward once:
- You’ve been on the programme for at least 8 months.
- You have evidenced all your knowledge, skills and behaviours, and your portfolio is signed off by your line manager and KnowledgeBrief.
- You have achieved your off the job hours.
- You’ve provided evidence of meeting the English and Maths Functional Skills requirements.
After Gateway
The timeline is as follows:
- Week 1 following the Gateway: CMI will set the presentation title after Gateway has been approved.
- Weeks 2 and 3: You will complete your presentation.
- Week 3: You submit your presentation to CMI.
- Week 4: CMI will review your portfolio and presentation.
- Week 5: You MUST sit your Live Assessment within 4 weeks of the presentation title being set.
Your end point assessment represents your moment to lead with confidence — embrace it!
