New Data Essentials with AI Apprenticeship Launched

Artificial intelligence is changing the way organisations work with data, but successful adoption depends on people who understand both the technology and the data behind it. Data Essentials with AI has been designed to develop those practical skills, helping professionals confidently collect, prepare, analyse and communicate data while using AI responsibly to improve productivity and decision-making.

This programme develops the practical skills needed to work confidently with data throughout its lifecycle. Learners explore how to source, prepare, validate and analyse data from a range of organisational sources, before using Excel, Power BI and AI tools to uncover trends, generate insights and communicate findings effectively. Alongside technical capability, they build a strong understanding of data quality, governance, responsible AI, cybersecurity and data protection, ensuring information is handled ethically, securely and in line with organisational and legal requirements.

Built for real-world impact
Like all KnowledgeBrief programmes, this apprenticeship combines guided learning with practical workplace application from day one. Learners apply new knowledge through realistic scenarios, hands-on activities and work-based projects, using data and AI tools to solve genuine business challenges. As they progress through the programme, they build a portfolio of workplace evidence that demonstrates their ability to source, prepare, analyse and communicate data effectively, while applying responsible and professional data practices.
The End Point Assessment includes a scenario demonstration with questioning and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence, ensuring learners can not only complete technical tasks but explain their reasoning and justify their decisions.
As part of the programme, learners will have the opportunity to prepare for and achieve the Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional (AB-730) certification. This globally recognised credential demonstrates practical AI capability, equipping learners to use Microsoft AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, support data-related tasks and drive innovation across the workplace.

What sets this programme apart
This is not simply a technical data course. It develops professionals who:

  • Work methodically and independently
  • Use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and support data-related tasks
  • Build dashboards, reports and AI-supported insights that drive action
  • Communicate insight clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Manage data securely and compliantly
  • Understand the value of data and AI to organisational performance
  • Take responsibility for quality, integrity, sustainability and responsible AI use

Designed and delivered by experienced data specialists, the programme focuses on building confidence as well as competence.
The future of work depends on people who can combine strong data skills with the effective and responsible use of AI. The Data Essentials with AI apprenticeship equips learners with exactly those capabilities.

Applying AI in the Workplace: Tools, Decision-Making, Human Judgement and Decision Support

AI is often presented as a fast route to better decisions, smarter work and efficiency. The evidence is more cautious. Organisations may invest heavily but still report limited business gains, partly because implementation needs more than technology alone (Reim et al., 2020). AI can support knowledge management by speeding up information collection and interpretation, but it struggles with tacit knowledge and can amplify problems in decision-making rather than reduce them (Trunk et al., 2020). This means responsibility does not disappear when AI is introduced. It shifts. Leaders and teams need transparency about how outputs are produced, literacy to choose appropriate applications, and training to interpret results responsibly. Cultural alignment also matters, because AI changes work practices and can trigger resistance and ethical concerns.

The importance of theory in coaching: A lifelong journey, not just a skill

This question is understandable. Coaching is not just about acquiring a set of tools, it’s about developing a way of thinking, being, and relating to others. While practical application is essential, understanding the theoretical foundations of coaching is what sets truly transformational coaches apart.
